Dublin, December 2010... The city was covered in treacherous snow and ice. Myself and two friends were walking down to Ranelagh en route to McSorelys for a pint of Guinness. The weather was cold, we needed smokes, so why not head to the pub for a pint and pick up some smokes there?
My friend Richie didn't think it necessary to hug the walll as we rounded the corner onto Ranelagh Main St. He slipped and fell flat on his arse. My instant response as I hugged the wall for dear life was "careful now"
An elderly gent, walking along main st immediately responded "Down with that sort of thing"
As Richie lay eagled on the ground in agony, myself and my other friend Ronan, tipped our hats to the gent. "Good reference sir, good reference. "
So, are all Irish men so desperate for a pint 🍺 & a pack of smokes that they’re willing to make the foolhardy decision to go walking despite treacherously icy & snowy pavement, or is it just you & your friends & that quick-witted elderly gentleman you mentioned? Asking for a single friend who likes that charming Irish accent… 😉
Lolzz... That's the kind of verification, that will bring a big smile, to the end of time...💚😆💚
I don't believe IT!
I love the way Brennan is still wearing his bishop get up on the beach lol
good old Len
3 Years. Too few. I was raised Catholic. Heavily influenced by my Irish heritage. One of my favorite comedies of all time. "Careful Now" "Go on. Go on. Go on. GO ON!!!" *smile sweetly*
I was too and am seeing tis for the first time at 41 it is funny.
I lived in Ireland for two-and-a-half years. I must say this is one of the most brilliant comedies ever produced. This and kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse are probably my favorite episodes. Absolutely hilarious cheers and this from a German polish guy raced in Chicago
Sure, living in Ireland is a constant comedy.
Were you born in Germany ? Or Poland ?
@@Ptrm594 You don't seem to understand the way Americans speak of their heritage. It's befuddling that Europeans never seem to learn this. It's so obvious to me.
I would love to see The Passion of St Tubulus and Im from Gdansk!
Same here, and greetings from Georgia !
Pardon my ignorance, but I don't see why is Gdansk funny. Or is it only bc it's in Poland, therefore really far from Ireland?
I think, its just because it sounds funny.
@@autumn_rain I think its mentioned in the episode.
@@sthenotheGI think it's because it's far away and also in a predominantly Catholic country.
Him just speaking Spanish and everyone understanding is so sweet.
I think the joke is they're listening to the translator. Kind of breaking the 4th wall.
"De Fill-im"
Didn't our lord pause on the cross for a cup of tea
I forgot! This is the penal colony of parishes. "Nuns are people, too!"
The actor playing Michael the usher absolutely nails it.
Down with this sort of thing (Careful now!)
They say that the west part of the island floated off. I wonder if that means Father Dougal was telling the truth about the cliffs disappearing in episode 1
dougal- was it colonel mustard & the candle stick 😅
ted: what 😒
Father Jack, would you like a glass of brandy?
yes
DRINK!

GIRLS!
08:41, 09:01 Mrs. Doyle was holding the bishop at bay. I bet Father Ted was laughing in the background.
Easily among the top ten funniest tv shows ever 😭😭😭
The lights are on ….brilliant!
This show is gold! Thanks for uploading it, glad I managed to catch it before it gets taken down!
This is actually from the production company itself, so you'll be able to watch it in perpetuity!
Thank you!
"Da Fill-um!"
I love this show!
Should have a John & Mary spinoff.
Mary passed away.
Lets watch it again.
"I know it start's with an F..."
Well, as a Swede. I can confirm that it does. :P
Father Hernandez is alright.
This My Favorite Episode of Father Ted.
That part where he asks for the handcuffs remided me of my old place where i lived with my ex.
Well we had a big metal ring above the head of our bed for, ummm well, personal fun.
And my friends would see it and always asked in a sly voice "hey Rick whats wirh that ring at the head of your be??"" And id say "nothin forget it" and they would smile and say "it wouldn't have anything to do with those handcuffs would it??" And me and my ex would look at each other and she would smile at me and me at her and i just say "you know what just forget it okay!!" And kinda laugh.
But they knew what was up lol

Bishop Brennan absolutely cracks me up.Lol
This episode has my favourite O'Leary's fight
philippines mentioned 😱💥💥💥
feck ye still bishop brennan
They're handcuffed between 2 bars outside the cinema, and around a bar back at the house.
Careful now!
Has Bishop Brennan never heard of the Streisand Effect ???
What do you expect, even though Ted and Douglas did what they were supposed to do, they’re to blame for the protest not working. Shows how management doesn’t take responsibility for any decisions they make. Don’t believe me, just ask Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen.
It happened 10 yearo before Streisand
Wexford gets a laugh.
The film seen by a man and his dog. Brilliant !
That wasn't a banana Dougall.
Father Jack vs Bishop Brennan will be the final fight for the Death Battle youtube channel. The ultimate clash.
Spoilers for "The Crying Game" oh nooooo 😆

Father Fernandiaz was played by Derrick Blanche who played Guptha in Only When I Laugh !!
I like how they say Cat-lick.
And fillem.
Even Popes had children
"hows the son"
Fr. Dougal must have forgotten to pay his brain bill. 😂
This show was me and my sisters fave because in America all the cursing sounded quaint enough for mom that she didn't mind us saying FEK
I like father ted
Hilarious and only 3 seasons? ???
Dermot Morgan died just after filming the third series. No-one could have ever replaced him.
@@lezzman I agree, with much sadness!
@@lezzman What an understatement.
Indeed, though filming had already wrapped anyway. Him dying the day after the final episode was shot was nothing more than a tragic coincidence.
Unless my aging eyes deceive me, the Bishop appears to be the holder of a BRITISH passport.
Nope that’s an Irish passport
The harp gives it away.
Didn't know the Bishop cared for American whiskey. 🥃
RUclips subtitles don't care for the Irish accent (cop of tea etc) which is a shame for all people with bad hearing/ deaf.
They're terrible aren't they ? It is strange how they can quite well interpret some accents but not others.
Can anyone help me, please? Why does Father Dougal say “that’s a bit ungrateful” after what Father Fernandez spoke?
Because he has NO WORDS for expressing his thankfulness, which everybody naturally understands as being at a loss for suitable words to express his deepfelt greatfulness, only Dougal misunderstands it in the plain litteral meaning, that is: having no words to thank them at all. ( which implies: he does not want to thank them, since he is speaking no words of thankfulness )
I like Father Dugal in Death in Paradise
One of the best jokes in the episode.
Moritz Kaufmann's explanation is very good.
I'd have said it this way:
The Cuban priest says he has no words to express his thanks.
What he means: he is SO thankful that he cannot find the right words. Words would not be enough to show how thankful he is.
What Dougal thinks the Cuban priest means is:
Oh, he's got no words to thank us ? So he won't even say thanks ? That's ungrateful !
My explanation is similar to Morris Kauffman's, which was very good
.
Hopefully mine helps too.
But truth be told, I have no words to express my thanks to Moritz Kaufmann for his wonderful explanation.
The Crying Game is an actual film by Neil Jordan. It was groundbreaking for its times.
No shit.
We know. The joke is that the two ladies talking about the film give away the “Rosebud” surprise ending, ruining it for Father Ted (whose expression shows he hadn’t seen it yet).
@@irishking1414 You’ll be surprised to know that not many non-Irish people know about the existence of this film, so you’re welcome.
@@HRHDMKYT I know what the joke is. I was saying that for people who didn’t know about the movie (and there’s tons of them)
What's it all about?
Wonder if that "St. Tibulus" flick was worse than The Passion Of The Christ?
Asking for a friend. 😅
I think it's based on The Last Temptation of Christ
@@attentionaddicts more like the devils i think.
French movie 🥖 😂
Leave Nuns outta this...
Priests in my experience love a good drink whether Anglican or Catholic they are always down to clown.
Sitcom episode called "The Passion Of St. Tibulus" from BBC "Father Ted" parody seriesn is sure a fine cure to dispel the demonic after more than one too young person for that sort of thing was getting to watch during 1971 the movie called "Clockwork Orange" which was directed by Stephen Kubrick. While not knowing any other way to get home at the time after being asked out. Well good thing I dropped that guy who took me out on date to go into movie theatre to watch, "Clockwork Orange." His first name was John. John. Not Richard. Not Brock. Not Jake. No not John Bohkenfhor.
A one man candle factory. Oh gross! .
